DENTAL APPOINTMENTS CAN TELL A HEALTH STORY!
 
We are told to see the dentist every 6 months for a cleaning/checkup.
We often put this and other health checkup appointments off.
Did you know gum disease can affect your general health.  For example:
 
RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS:
Inhaling bacteria from the mouth and throat can lead to pneumonia
Dental plaque buildup create a dangerous source of bacteria that can be in haled
into the lungs.
 
SEVERE OSTEOPENIA:
Reduction in bone mass (osteopnia) is associated with gum disease and related to tooth loss

KEEPING A HEALTHY HEART

Having a healthy heart is inportant for us all!
Smoking, Being over weight, poor diet, hypertension and other stress foctors.
Are known for taking a tool on our health.
 
Smoking increases your risk of heart diease by two to four times.
Being 20 lbs or more overweight strains your heart, can increases
your blood pressure, raise your bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower
your good cholesterol (HDL) increasing your risk for diabetes.
 
          Know your (BMI) Body Mass Index.

DIABETES AND SKIN CARE

WINTER IS ROUGH ON THE SKIN

During the winter months our skin can dry out.  It is important to look at your body daily.
Look for cuts, scrapes and cracks.  Don't forget your hands and feet.  Properly clean the area if you have any cuts to the skin. Use an antibiotic cream.  See a doctor if not better in a few days. Remember to clean and dry your feet. Keep yourself hydrated (drinking water) and keep your skin moisturize.

Caring For Your Eyes

We've been told to eat our carrots for good eye site.  Well carrots aren't
the only vegetable that's good for healthy eyes.  A diet rich in vegetables
such as, spinach, kale, collard greens, and otherdark green leafy green
 are especially good choices. There are also fruitsthat help in our site such
as, peaches, apricots, oranges, strawberries, grapespapaya to name a few.
A diet rich in a variety of fruits and vegetables helps keep your eyes  and
your whole body healthy.
